I‘m a journalist and have lived and worked in Myanmar during 2015/16. It‘s a country that I love very much. “At the Teashop” by artist Kaung Kyaw Khine immediately spoke to me. Not only do I like his style. The scene, the colors and the light evoke memories. I find it a quintessential depiction of social life in Myanmar. The teashop is not only a place of social interaction but also where people exchange news, as symbolized in the newspapers here, which reminds me of my Myanmar colleagues and the important and courageous work they have accomplished under tremendously difficult circumstances.

A dream I always dream of - My hometown with an art center! I hope Arakan Art Gallery could fulfill my wish to bridge the gap heartwarming with the language of art.
