BIOGRAPHY

Thu Ra Kyaw is an emerging and promising artist. He was born in 1996 and graduated from the State School of Fine Arts, Yangon in 2015, where he studied under U Kyaw Thu Rain, U Maung Oo, U Win Tint, U Win Pe Myint, U Myint Naing. He is well-known for his thought-provoking works, particularly his ‘Rebirth’, ‘Still Water’, and ‘She’ series. He is an artist who skillfully blends philosophical concepts with artistic excellence, and his works have received much appreciation from art lovers.

Thu Ra Kyaw’s art reflects his deep philosophical beliefs and his experiences in life. He creates works that are inspired by the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth, as well as the challenges and difficulties that people face in their daily lives. Through his art, he encourages viewers to find their own strength and resilience and to never give up no matter what obstacles they may face. On the other hand, his ‘Still Water’ series is a representation of peace and stillness, capturing the beauty and stillness of the water in its purest form.

“She” is another series of artworks by artist Thu Ra Kyaw, who has a deep love and respect for women. Representing the strong, adventurous, and loving qualities often found in women, “She” showcases the beauty and importance of femininity in our world. These paintings, done in acrylics and watercolors with a realistic style, have been highly regarded and collected by various collectors, including the National Museum of Myanmar.

He has an eye for detail and is capable of capturing the essence of the subject matter in his paintings. With his technical skills and artistic talent, Kyaw has established himself as a talented and promising artist.

Thu Ra Kyaw has exhibited his works both locally and internationally, participating in numerous exhibitions in Myanmar and at the Art Revolution Taipei in Taiwan in 2019 and 2020. His solo exhibition, “Rebirth”, held at Lokanat Galleries, is a testament to his growing popularity and success as an artist.
