BIOGRAPHY

Ye Yint Myint Naing, a talented watercolor artist from Myanmar, was born in 1993, in Yangon, Myanmar. He was close to the art of painting since his childhood, as his parents were artists. His father, Myint Naing guided him in studying art, and later he studied art at the University of Art and Culture and also graduated Diploma in Computer Art (Dip – CA). He participated in many groups shows locally and overseas.

ARTIST STATEMENT

“My first job was working as a graphic designer. At that time, I usually painted as my pastime. Later, I chose to become a full-time artist. As my father is a good mentor whose guidance helped me to learn systematically, let me say I studied under him. In terms of training, I observe different artists’ demonstrations, exhibitions, and international artists’ artworks, as well as their workshops. I always get so excited to create watercolor artwork that I need to make a quick decision at each step. This medium seems to be hard to control because of the nature of fluidity. Speed is of the essence. But patience is also a matter. Layer by layer, brushing in timing patiently makes me satisfied with my work. Of several watercolor techniques, I usually take the ‘wet on wet’ technique. Of course, it is a kind of happiness for me especially when I brush a wet color paint on the wet paper, the duet of water and color. That is the reason why I love this medium. I prefer watercolor paintings with transparency to opaque ones. I think creating watercolor artwork is likely to be a combination of emotion and art. To master watercolor, you need experience and skill.”
