If you’re a fan of watercolor art, then the ‘8 Watercolor 2023’ Art Exhibition is a must-visit event in Yangon. The exhibition, which runs from February 22 to February 26 at Lokanat Galleries, features the works of 8 talented artists from Myanmar.
Founded in 2017 by a group of like-minded artists, ‘8 Watercolor’ has become a popular platform for artists to showcase their watercolor creations. This year’s exhibition is the 5th edition of the event and promises to be a visual treat for art lovers.
The exhibition features a total of 39 watercolor artworks, each with its own unique style and theme. From landscapes to abstract compositions and still-life paintings, the exhibition offers a diverse range of artworks that showcase the beauty of watercolor art. This year’s exhibition features two main categories of painting sizes: 15”x22” inches and 30”x22” inches.
The participating artists include Arkar Myo, Athurain Soe, Aung Htet Lwin, Aung Lin Tun, Hnin Thiri, Nan Hee Phay San, Thu Ra Kyaw, and Ye’ Yint Myint Naing. Each artist brings their own distinct style and approaches to watercolor art.
One of the participating artists, Thu Ra Kyaw, shared his love for watercolor, saying that he loves the effect it produces and how unpredictable it can be. He explained that watercolor requires quick and skillful techniques to achieve the desired effect, making it a challenging yet rewarding medium to work with.
